The Best Festivals In The Snow: April 2019

by Nick Baines April 01, 2019

As springtime slush begins to get slashed, it’s time to kick back and get involved with some of the epic mountain festivals that take place this month…

THE UNLIMITED FESTIVAL

With events taking place in Montenvers, Planpraz and right up at Aiguille du Midi, Unlimited Festival completely dominates Cham for the best part of a week. 2manydjs are guaranteed to provide fun-flowing party vibes, while the line up of European heavy hitters like Camion Bazar, Dave Clarke and LB aka LABAT will be amping festival goers all week long.

SUN & SNOW

Spain’s southern mountain resort of Sierra Nevada is often overlooked when discussing European snow. However, this awesome little snow stash is home to Sun & Snow, an end of season festival that not only boasts acts like &ME, Animal Picnic and Christian Loffler, but has a strong sustainability focus, prioritising local suppliers to cut down on emissions, and using reusable cups and food vessels to tackle single-use waste.

CAPRICES FESTIVAL

To experience some of the world's finest electronic musicians doing their thing, head to Crans-Montana, Switzerland for Caprices Festival. Running through the day and night, this iconic gathering includes two fly-by-night venues – Moon, and MDRNTY. The later of which is an award winning roaming event that won Best International Festival last year at DJAwards Ibiza.

SNOWBOMBING

This now legendary festival turns 20 this year and will once again take over the Zillertal’s favourite town of Mayrhofen. Run laps through the Penken park and grab a cold one at the Grillhof Alm before heading down to catch a slew of great music including Fat Boy Slim, Stormzy, and Groove Armada. Criag Charles is also playing a set, or for something to slap a silly smile on your face, go catch the Cuban Brothers – it’s a Snowbombing tradition.
